Your Privacy

This page explains what information Adam Young Media collects, why it gets collected, and what happens to it. I wrote it in plain English because privacy policies should be readable by the people they apply to.

What Gets Collected

When you sign up for the newsletter or submit the contact form, you provide your email address and your first name, along with anything you choose to write in a message. That is the personal information this site collects directly from you.

Like most websites, this site also uses Google Analytics (GA4) to measure traffic. This involves cookies and collects things like which pages you visit, roughly where you are located, what device and browser you use, and how you arrived here. This data is aggregated and used to understand what content people find useful. You can learn more about how Google handles this data in Google's own privacy documentation, and you can block analytics cookies through your browser settings or Google's opt-out tools.

How Your Information Gets Used

Your email address and name are used for two things: sending you email updates and marketing related to the topics covered on this site, and responding to messages you send through the contact form. That is it. There is no hidden third use.

What Does Not Happen

Your personal data is not sold. It is not rented out or traded to advertisers or data brokers. The only third parties that touch your information are the service providers needed to run this site, such as the email platform that delivers the newsletter and Google Analytics for traffic measurement. Those providers process data on this site's behalf and are not free to use it for their own purposes.

Unsubscribing

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you are off the list. If the link ever fails for some reason, send a message through the contact form and your address will be removed manually.

How Long Data Is Kept

Your email and name stay on the list as long as you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, your information is removed from active mailing within a reasonable period, though suppression records may be kept so you do not accidentally get re-added. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your question and any follow-up. Analytics data is retained according to the settings in Google Analytics and is not tied to your name or email.

Your Rights, Including CCPA/CPRA

If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to request a copy of it, to ask that it be deleted, to correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Since this site does not sell personal data, there is nothing to opt out of on that front, but the other rights fully apply. You will never be treated differently for exercising them.

Regardless of where you live, you can ask what information this site holds about you, request corrections, or request deletion. Reasonable requests get honored without a legal fight.

Getting in Touch

For any privacy question, request, or concern, use the contact form on this site. That is the way to reach me, and privacy requests submitted there get handled directly.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page. Nothing sneaky will be buried in a revision, but it is worth checking back occasionally if you care about the details.
